Before any of this, Michael was a competitive drag racer and a Principal Network Security Engineer — running fast, building a career, raising his son Malcolm. The fatigue, the swelling, the high blood pressure at every physical — he told himself it was just being busy. He was wrong. He landed in the ICU with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease, kidneys functioning in the single digits, and no warning he'd taken seriously.

Dialysis is three days a week, four hours a session. Michael made a decision in that chair: build something instead of disappear. That decision became MAVTG — a kidney-health tracker built from the chair, a travel service that plans around a treatment schedule instead of ignoring it, and books written for the person who just got a scary lab result and doesn't know what to do next. He's on the national transplant waiting list, still building.
