Foundation Status & Donation Policy

Applies to The Moore Foundation, at /foundation.

Draft — pending legal review. This page has not been reviewed by an attorney. Michael: please review before treating this as final.
The Moore Foundation is in formation. Donations are not currently being accepted as tax-deductible contributions.

Where things stand

The Moore Foundation is being formed as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization — filing Articles of Incorporation, building the board, and preparing the full IRS application, in that order. The IRS has not yet recognized the Foundation as tax-exempt. Until that approval is granted, donations are not tax-deductible, and the Foundation is not accepting donations.

What you can do today

You can pledge your intent to give once the Foundation's 501(c)(3) status is approved. No payment is collected for a pledge.

What changes once approved

Once 501(c)(3) status is approved, every donation becomes tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law, and every dollar is documented in the Foundation's public annual IRS Form 990 filing. This page will be updated at that point.
