Where We Come From

Ybor City: the birthplace of the American cigar.

In 1886, a Spanish-born cigar maker named Vicente Martínez Ybor moved his factory from Key West to a patch of scrubland outside Tampa — bringing with him thousands of Cuban and Spanish cigar workers, the torcedores who had built his trade in Havana. The neighborhood that grew up around that factory took his name: Ybor City. Within a generation it was known as the Cigar Capital of the World.

Market of Cigars carries that same tradition forward today, on the same streets where it began. The shop is family-owned and operated, led today by Yordany and his family, hand-rolling cigars for three generations. Every cigar sold in the shop is rolled by hand — not mass-produced — the same way it's been done here since 1886.

Bienvenidos

Nuestra Herencia

A Cuban craft, carried forward.

Every cigar in the shop is rolled by hand by a torcedor — the traditional Cuban and Spanish word for a master cigar roller — using the same technique passed down since Ybor City's earliest days. Pair one with a cafecito, a cortadito, or a full colada from the lounge, and you're sitting in the same tradition that built this neighborhood: Cuban craft, Spanish roots, hand-rolled in Tampa.

The Craft

What we believe.

Hand-Rolled, Always

Every cigar is rolled by hand in-shop — not a factory product, not mass-produced. Craftsmanship over volume.

Family, Three Generations

This is a family business, passed down and still hand-rolling today — the same craft, the same care, generation to generation.

A Lounge, Not Just a Shop

Fine Cuban coffee and a place to sit and enjoy your cigar — Market of Cigars is built to slow down in, not just shop in.

Cuban Roots

Rolled the way torcedores have rolled since Ybor City's earliest days — a Cuban and Spanish craft, carried forward in Tampa.
